Blog Break

As regular readers of this blog may have noticed, I haven’t been posting as frequently as usual in recent weeks.

I’ve mentioned my ACD before, but what I didn’t mention is that the diet only began a few months after I first experienced a host of symptoms; nor did I write about every single effect of candida I’ve been battling. Lately, some symptoms have bounced back with a vengeance, and I’ve found it more and more difficult to keep up with all the things I’d normally do in a day.

So after much deliberation, I’ve decided to take a blog break for a while and focus on regaining my health.

Regular readers will also know how much I love blogging and that I will sorely miss posting here on a regular basis.  I will certainly miss hearing from all of you!  I’ll still do my best to read everyone else’s blogs and comment when I can.  Mostly, though, I’m going to focus on ridding myself of this heinous candida once and for all.  I’ve already got loads of ideas for some great recipes when I get back.

Thanks, everyone, for your continuing support, and for reading.  I hope you all have a wonderful month or two coming up, and hope to “see” you when I return.   🙂

Ricki, I”m so sorry to hear that you aren’t feeling well, especially with all the hard work you have been doing. Perhaps it is a healing reaction – sometimes things feel worse before they get better – I know I experienced that. Be easy and moderate on yourself, and good for you for taking the time you need to rest, heal, and take care of yourself. Sending positive, healing energy your way, and can’t wait for you to come back all full of recipe-inventing energy : )

  • Your health is definitely most important, so I would say that’s a very smart decision. 🙂

  • Hi Ricki,

I’m sorry to hear that you are still struggling w/candida. Twenty yrs ago I had the same thing and was able to beat it w/a wonderful herbalist/body worker who would probably be arrested today for practicing medicine w/o license. All I cared about was that she was able to help cure me after only a few months.

I have a feeling that the reason the candida et al are hanging on despite your efforts is that bodies are changing rapidly in these very intense times, and the old ways of doing things aren’t working anymore. If you haven’t been following ways to help nourish your body during this time – no refined sugars or flours for example – then you are getting sat down, strapped in, and having it shoved in your face. The healing wants to begin, and it’s the only way to get your full attention.

I know because, while my recent situation didn’t get that extreme, I did recognize when my life-long issues were in my face, and it was time to resolve them once and for all if I planned on making it through this Great Shift. So change I did and the rest is history.

One product that I recently heard about that you might be interested in is MMS. I bought it from Matt Monarch over at http://www.therawfoodworld.com. I’ve bought a lot of products from him since I made life-giving diet changes. With the product came the full e-book that is available on the MMS Web site (www.mineralmineral.org)(only half there is for free; the other half you have to pay for).

I get Matt’s monthly newsletters. When he described a few months ago his own recent experience w/MMS, I went ahead and bought a bottle. I haven’t tried it yet, but every time I’ve read of your struggle, I’ve thought, “I should let Ricki know about this so she in case it can help her.”

I can e-mail you the full book, which I got free w/my order. Let me know. The file is a bit over 2MB. Otherwise check out the MMS Web site. BTW, I have no financial interest in this product or anyone who makes or markets this product.

Here’s to your abundant good health!!!

I hope you feel better soon. I am eagerly awaiting more blogging from you, but your health is the most important things.

Would your girls be offended if I sent you some kitten hugs? They always make me feel a little bit better!

Hello I just wanted to let you know how much you have been helping me help my family eat much healthier. It’s such a pleasure reading your blog and trying your recipes. I wanted to ask you a pretty BIG favor. Not too sure you will agree, but I figured what the heck can’t hurt to ask. I have a party coming up for my son and would like to bake him some of his favorite cupcakes. I remembered that you have a soy-free recipe for whipped “cream” and being on a pretty tight budget at the moment lol cannot purchase your cookbook (although I absolutely plan to in the future)I wanted to kindly ask if you would be willing to email me the recipe. My son LOVES whipped cream on his cupcakes and I would like to make a healthy soy-free version and since you tested this recipe out SO many times I trust it won’t disappoint. Thank you so much and please keep up the fantastic work you do. It’s inspiring 🙂

Hello, I have just learned of your blog and new book, only to find that you’ve taken a break! I was drawn to your book because alot of your approach meshes nicely with my own attempts to follow my own alternative health based diet. Mine happens to be for allergies/asthma, based on classical chinese medicine approach (not necessarily the same as TCM though often there’s overlap) where I’m supposed to avoid gluten, dairy, sugar, and anything cold or raw (!). I can intellectually accept the 1st 3 more readily b/c I was trying to be vegan anyway for the past 8-9 mos, and gluten free is another way of expanding my culinary horizons so though this is harder, I do find it interesting. So I am excited to read your book and wish you well on your own journey!

  • Best of luck getting well, Ricki! Good luck with your ACD plan, and with the cookbook launch!

    Hi Ricki,

Although I am not as into regular blog-reading as are most of the others who have written and regularly read your posts, I have always found your log writing to be really witty and funny and obviously possessing of a total flair for creative, healthy , delicious and (a bonus) GLUTEN-FREE! Thank you for this, and your presence IS VERY missed, as so many lovely, loving replies stand witness to: I also miss your posts, but I agree so strongly with Susana aove who says:
“Our health is definitely the most important thing in our lives. Without it everything vanishes away.” You must always deal with that
So I also say, “You Go, Girl: tear that candida UP!” I am so sorry the symptoms you have been doing so much (for a long time)to fight have gotten the upper hand for now. My thoughts and prayers are with you for the duration. Take good care of yourself,Ricki: (and let your HH help too– and of course, your darling dogs- dogs can be so good at helping us heal,I strongly believe that)I know you will miss blogging here alot, but all of your blog0-o-sphere buddies will sit tight and will all await your return and your healing. TakeSincerely, Nina

  • Ricki,
Hope you’re making progress. Probably a good idea to take a break (good time of year, too.) The increased rain (and mold) can cause candida flare-ups too.
