Festive Freebies 2: Reader’s Choice Cookbook Giveaway

[Tis the season for gift-giving–and I’m thrilled to be able to share with my readers!  I’ve got several delicious giveaways planned between now and the end of the year.  Happy Holidays!]

[Which would be your choice?  Maybe none of these?  That’s okay, too!]

I know that not everyone enjoys the same kinds of recipes that I do, so I thought it would be fun to give away a cookbook to someone and let the winner choose what s/he would like (as long as it’s available on amazon, that is).

I’ve compiled a short list of cookbooks that I own, love, or covet.  Let me know which of these you’d like to win–or even one that’s not on this list–and I’ll send the winning commenter the cookbook of her/his choice via amazon (and while you may not receive it just in time for Christmas, it will make a great start to the new year in your mailbox!).

Here’s my list of top choices, in alphabetical order:

To win, simply leave a comment at the bottom of this post telling me which book you’d like, and why.

Contest is open worldwide.

The giveaway window is fairly short–only until midnight, December 24th–so get those entries in and spread the word!  After the 24th, I’ll choose a winner at random and announce it on the blog on the 25th. Merry Christmas!

Extra entries can be earned through any of the following (then come back here and comment again to let me know you’ve done so):

  • Post on your own blog
  • Send an email to someone who’d be interested in entering, telling them about this giveaway–and either forward or cc me at dietdessertdogsATgmailDOTcom (but don’t forget to come back and comment here–it will make tallying entries much easier for me)

Good luck, everyone!  Here’s to ending the year with some great new recipes!

Extending the Table: A World Community Cookbook by Joetta Handrich Schlabach

I always thought this cookbook would be great to have. Recipes from around the world. Frugal, basic recipes with stories about culture and food.

Hello again! I’ve posted a comment about the giveaway on my facebook profile.
Can’t wait to see who will win!

  • Krista S

Woops, I made an error on my email address. The 2 comments just made from “Krista S” had entered a wrong email. Just wanted to let you know.

(This was my comment I entered:
How generous you are to give away any cookbook of choice!
Recently I have been eying authentic cookbooks, such as “The Indian Vegan Kitchen by Madhu Gadia” or “From the Tables of Lebanon: Traditional Vegetarian Cuisine by Dalal A. Holmin”.
I love Lebanese food, and although I have never truly tried authentic Indian food, these two veg-friendly cookbooks look wonderful.Merry Christmas!)
    I also posted on Facebook.

    Sorry about that!

  • Awesome giveaway! I really really really want the uncheese cookbook…I’ve been drooling over it for awhile, but with all the gifts I’ve been doling out this season I decided I’d have to wait. I’d love to win it though!

  • Karen

Thank you for this generous giveaway! If I win, I would love to own Eat, Drink, and Be Vegan as it is referenced so often on the blogs that I read.

  • An exciting giveaway! I love to look at cookbooks whenever I go to the bookstores, and I especially love cookbooks about bread baking, cookies, and quick easy ethnic food like Thai and Greek! Merry Christmas!

PS I posted on facebook too.

    Thanks, Lisa

I just recently found that I’m allergic to most foods… not to mention that I have to follow the ACD and Endometriosis diet. Ahhh.. And right before the holidays! Now I’m trying to cope, to manage, and I’ve been doing what I can to educate myself on this lifestyle change. It’s blogs like yours and Ali’s that have been allowing me to survive. So thank you for sharing your thoughts and your recipes.
I would love to have the very book that you wrote. Sweet Freedom. Wow, it would be amazing to convince my family that this change can be tasty.

    Thanks again!! Happy Holidays!

  • ckwebgrrl

I think I would chose Tal Ronnen’s The Conscious Cook because he is a celebrity cook and I would usually consider that not a practical purchase to make for myself. So it would be really fun to win it! 😛

    Thanks for these fun giveaways!

  • Michelle

Oooh! I’d love the Vegan Yum Yum cookbook. I’m still fairly new to veganism, and have tried a few of the recipes from the Vegan Yum Yum blog and loved them! Great giveaway!

  • Mallory

Oh my! I am a cookbook lover! In fact, even though I have a college degree in English–cookbooks are the only literature I read these days! While all these books look fantastic, I really want a copy of your Sweet Freedom book. I am trying to eliminate all unwholesome sweeteners from my diet and I think your book would really inspire and motivate me to do it and enjoy the process! Thanks!

  • Ricki, thank you so very much for your incredibly sweet, kind comments… You always life my spirits and inspire me!

You are SO sweet to give us such a glorious Christmas gift! I love the photo of your cookbook shelf… 🙂 Such an awesome collection!! I am SO longing for the Clean Food cookbook, ever since your fabulous review… My fingers are crossed! 🙂

  • Cee

I see a lot of books on those shelves that we have and love. I think Clean Food would be my first preference. Have you seen Love Soup: 160 All-New Vegetarian Recipes … by Anna Thomas or Feeding the Whole Family by Cynthia Lair? I also love those!

  • Wow, thanks Ricki!

    So generous!

I’d like to win the Enlightened Eating by Caroline Dupont. I am currently studying at the CSNN and she will be teaching us at some point, and I’ve heard great things about her book.

Also, if there’s some way you could squeeze a Hazelnut Melting Moment in between the pages somewhere, that’d be swell 🙂

    Thanks again and Merry Christmas!!

  • Bethany

I really want the Urban Vegan cookbook because I once made gingerbread from her website and it blew my mind. She always has the most inventive, beautiful recipes on her blog and I would love to explore more of her dishes.

  • Hi Ricki! This is such a thoughtful gift. I’d love to have a copy of “Vegan Yum-Yum” by Lauren Ulm – I’ve already got your book or else I’d want that! But Lauren’s blog photos are so gorgeous and her recipes seem to be without fail, I’d love to check out her full cookbook.

  • I’d love the Urban Vegan book by Dynise Balcavage. I followed her blog for ages, and loooooved her recipes. She has such a passion for food and veganism, and the creativity in her recipes is marvelous.

  • Oh my! What a fun giveaway =D. My pick would be Ratio by Michael Ruhlman, as it looks like a wonderful resource for learning the art of a recipe!

  • I’d love to win a copy of Quick & Easy Vegan Comfort Food. I need quick recipes, and those sausage pictures look really delicious and I want to try making those!

  • Marianne

  • Krista

I want your book, of course!

  • Carol M

500 Vegan Recipes sounds good! I’m looking for more casserole dishes.

Eat, Drink and Be Vegan by Dreena Burton, I looked at it before and most of the recipes are pretty simple and easy, not to mention they all sound equally delicious and healthy.

  • Alana

I’d love to win 500 vegan recipes! I’ve heard so many good things about this book. Thank-you for the wonderful giveaway!
