Cuisine Camino Baking Kit Giveaway!
You’ll win all this–PLUS a bag of Golden Cane Sugar AND a bag of the new Camino unsweetened Coconut! (I apologize for the old photo–the ones I took last week have somehow been eaten by my computer and I’ve already used most of the ingredients–sorry! Except for the two new additions mentioned above, though, the rest of the ingredients still look the same.).
My American cousin (hey! great title for a movie!), who, as it happens, is also my favorite cousin, does not love chocolate. I must tell you candidly, this almost ruined our relationship when we were kids. I mean, he’s just so great in every other way.
Okay, so I have a bit of an obsession with chocolate. When I was 17 and Sterlin and I visited San Francisco, the first stop we made was Ghirardelli Square so we could try out the chocolate. For our first Valentine’s Day together, I asked the HH to get me some Godiva truffles. Whenever a new organic chocolate comes on the market, I’m one of the first to sample it. And I’m willing to try just about any food if it’s chocolate-coated (I draw the line at garlic. . . that garlic ice cream I tried back in my twenties still haunts me).
Sure, the sugary, processed, artificial type of “chocolate” is what got me into this entire candida dilemma to begin with, but I’m not talking about that inferior specimen here. I’m referring to the organic, fair trade, high quality and (for me) unsweetened version. And Cocoa Camino products are at the top of my list. They’re not only top-notch quality and taste, but they’re ethical, too. And organic.
I’ve reviewed this brand of chocolate and baking products before for a giveaway about a year ago, when I first fell in love with their rich, smooth unsweetened baking chocolate. You can read a detailed review of the products here.
Suffice it to say that I use Cocoa Camino unsweetened chocolate at least two or three times a week, either for baked goods, mousse, truffle coating, for flecks in a nut butter, or for some other confection when I crave something sweet (and flavonoid-filled!). The quality is superior and the mouthfeel is gorgeous, silky and rich. In fact, my first taste of the stuff was straight–no stevia sweetness to mitigate the 100% cacao–and I still enjoyed it immensely. It’s that smooth.
[I did manage a pic of the new bags of coconut!]
I was excited to learn about the new unsweetened shredded coconut the company offers, though, because coconut is also a favorite ingredient in the DDD household, both for sweet and savory cooking (in fact, my recent Coco-Nut Shortbread Buttons were made with Camino coconut). The result was fantastic. So now it seems I’ll be stuck eating chocolate AND coconut on an almost-daily basis!
[What I made with the new Camino unsweetened coconut. . . and a few other ingredients.]
While some of the ingredients in this giveaway package (the golden sugar, chocolate chips, etc.) are not permitted on the ACD because they contain evaportated cane juice (which means I can’t use them), there’s no reason you can’t enjoy them! If you love to bake and have a bunch of holiday cookies or other treats on the roster this year, this Cuisine Camino pack is perfect for you.
I can’t wait for one of you to try these fine products! I love my Camino chocolate and know that it will work wonders in your kitchen, too.
Here’s what you can win in the Camino giveaway:
- a box each of unsweetened baking chocolate;
- a box of semisweet baking chocolate;
- a bag of unrefined brown sugar;
- a bag of Golden Cane Sugar;
- a bag of Bittersweet (71% cacao) chocolate chips;
- a bag of unsweetened coconut; and
- a cannister of unsweetened cocoa powder.]
To enter the giveaway, simply leave a comment on this page telling me what is your favorite thing to bake for the holidays. That’s it!
If you’d like extra entries, you can tweet about the giveaway (include @rickiheller so I’ll see it), post on Facebook, post on your blog, subscribe to this blog (see buttons at the top right of the page), follow me on twitter, or “like” the DDD Facebook page. Then please come back and leave a separate comment for each one you do to facilitate counting the entries.
The contest closes at midnight, Monday, November 22nd, at which point I’ll choose a winner at random. The contest is open to anyone in North America (with apologies to International readers–the next one is open to everyone, so please come back next Tuesday for that!).
PLEASE NOTE: If you win, you’ll need to send me an email with your full name and address, so please come back next Wednesday, November 24th, to check the winners announcement. I WILL NOT BE CONTACTING THE WINNER. If I don’t hear from the winner within three days, I will choose someone else at random.
Good luck, everyone! And happy baking

This is an AMAZING giveaway. My favorite thing to bake for the holidays is cookies, although I am generally a much bigger fan of eating than baking when vacation time comes around
[Reply]
I have an itch to bake chocolate cake and carrot cake when I’m home for Christmas. I’m not big on cookies. All that chocolate and some coconut would be perrrrfect.
[Reply]
by far, it is my gf sugar cookies that we make every year. That is the beginning of holidays for us.
[Reply]
My favorite thing to bake is a gluten free pumpkin pecan pie! Mmm, my mouth is watering just thinking about it! =)

Hello there! You’ve asked a VERY tough question because the holidays are all about sweets. One thing I love to make over the holidays are Garam Masala Molten Chocolate Cakes served warm with an Orange Chai Spice Sauce (this is so indulgent). Every year I make biscottis (Dark Chocolate Cranberry Pistachio Chai Biscotti) for dipping into hot coffee or tea. Citrus Chai Spice Cookies…that’s a few but there’s more! Yum!

I love making an assortment of cookies and putting them in festive packages to give my co-workers and neighbors. And I really enjoy trying out a new pie or cake or something interesting. Mostly, I love baking a lot of different things without the commitment of having to eat all of them!
[Reply]
My favorite thing to make around the holidays is cut out cookies. It reminds me of baking them with my mom and decorating them with all the different colored icing!
[Reply]

What an awesome giveaway! Hmmm…I love baking cookies during the holidays. While my specialty is snickerdoodles (and traditional chocolate chip), I tend to experiment with several new cookie recipes each holiday season so my gift bags include a variety of flavors and textures.
[Reply]
Cookies and carrot cake are always holiday faves at home, along with 7 layer bars/magic bars/whatever other names they go by. The coconut and chocolate will be perfect for those this year when I try my hand at baking a gluten, soy, vegan version
[Reply]
I love making pumpkin bread, mostly because it smells so wonderful!
[Reply]
mmmmmmmmm you don’t have to convince me, that all looks delicious. The holidays in my family means baking cookies. Even though I prefer fudge, brownies, pie, or other rich and/or chocolaty things Christmas is all about the cookies. We have several that my mom has been making every year for as long as I can remember and we only break out those recipes for the holiday so they stay extra special. Two all time favorites are lemon squares and turtle bars.

I would have to say…. anything with pumpkin. Pie, muffins, bars, cookies, pudding… and so on. I really really love pecan pie but haven’t ever made it because most recipes use lots of corn syrup. This thanksgiving I am going to try to make a healthier version or pecan pie. I LOVE holidays!!!

Oh my goodness, so much chocolate! My mom always used to make these little pecan shortbread bites (I think the real name might be pfeffernusse?) that I absolutely adore, and might be my quintessential christmas cookie. I know, no chocolate – unbelievable!

This is so awesome, I adore CC (I’m pretty sure they are also Canadian…or originally were…whatever, love it)! I am going to be so boring and say pumpkin pie, because it really IS my favourite. Wait, does baking include roasting squash? I mean, it’s in an oven. Just saying.

Great giveaway, Ricki! Love the story about your American cousin.
I think I like to bakes pies the best, but my family loves my brown sugar chocolate chip cookies even mroe than my pies so making those and knowing how they will react is pretty close to my pie baking enjoyment.
Hugs,
Shirley

I’ve never tried cocoa camino but the way you describe it…it sounds dangerous to keep around the house
I don’t have a favourite thing to bake for the holidays, because I really enjoy experimenting and love making different things all the time. However, one of the best things I ever made was a batch of pumpkin brownies that everyone loved. The pumpkin made them so fudgy, and they didn’t have a pumpkin flavour which was a plus for the picky eaters in my family.
